So you’ve had chocolate covered strawberries, but have you ever had chocolate covered figs? Just about anything dipped in chocolate is absolutely delicious, but figs are exceptionally good! Figs are sweet like jam and when you dip them in chocolate and add salt they’re a perfect sweet treat! In fact, my husband and I actually made a tray of these for our small group coming over, but we ate them all so we had to make another set.
Everything you need to make these chocolate covered figs
- Figs: these are sweet like jam! If you’re picking your own from a public tree like my husband and I did, look for the ones that are drooping and are softer. These are going to be the sweetest! They’re also packed with fiber, vitamins and minerals!
- Chocolate Chips: compliments the delicious sweet jam-like flavors figs have and give it a rich quality!
- Olive Oil: helps to make the chocolate chips more dippable.
- Salt: enhance the flavors of the fig and the chocolate!
Chocolate Covered Figs
So you've had chocolate covered strawberries, but have you ever had chocolate covered figs? Just about anything dipped in chocolate is absolutely delicious, but figs are exceptionally good! Figs are sweet like jam and when you dip them in chocolate and add salt they're a perfect sweet treat! In fact, my husband and I actually made a tray of these for our small group coming over, but we ate them all so we had to make another set.
Ingredients
- figs
- 1/3 cup chocolate chips
- 1 Tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- Line a baking tray with parchment paper. Then cut your figs in half, place on the tray and set aside.
- Get a small bowl and fill it with your chocolate chips (the amount of chocolate chips you want will depend on how many figs you are dipping in chocolate) and drizzle your olive oil on top. Microwave this in 30 second intervals until the chocolate chips are soft and slide off a spoon easily.
- Dip the bottom half of your figs into the chocolate and place back on the baking tray. Sprinkle with salt before the chocolate hardens. Repeat until you've done all your figs.
- Place in the fridge until the chocolate hardens (15 minutes) or until you're ready to eat them. My husband and I just keep the figs in the fridge and pull them out when we want a snack so that the chocolate doesn't melt off of them. Enjoy!
