If you like meat & cheese then this recipe is for you! This is essentially a taco quiche and it’s absolutely delicious! Plus it’s lazy day approved, meaning if you don’t want to prep a lot of ingredients then this is for you! My parents used to make this for me all the time when I was growing up and something about a meal in a cast iron just feels homey to me!
EVERYTHING YOU’LL NEED TO MAKE Taco Pie
- Ground Beef: we use 80/20% ground beef for this! We also try to use grass fed beef when available, but we also understand this beef can be more expensive so please use whatever beef is within your budget.
- Onion: rich in vitamin B and antioxidants, onions are known for their ability to fight inflammation! Plus onions provide a ton of flavor, which makes sense because they’re in the same family as garlic.
- Green Chilies: adds flavor complexity to the dish.
- Flour: adds volume to the taco pie. We use all-purpose for this.
- Baking Staples: don’t forget the baking powder and salt. These are gonna help the taco pie to rise and get full!
- Eggs: these give the taco pie a delightful quiche-like texture!
- Tomatoes: add a welcomed sweetness and freshness to the taco pie.
- Cheddar Cheese: be sure to top this with cheese because it adds a creamy sharpness to the taco pie.
