These biscuits are fluffy, simple, and cheesy with a hint of jalapeno heat! So essentially what I’m saying is…they’re absolutely delicious and you’re gonna love ’em! This takes the biscuit recipe I was born and raised on and adds a lil cheesy spice! If you want you can also add a drizzle of honey on top!
EVERYTHING YOU’LL NEED TO MAKE THESE DELICIOUS Jalapeno Cheddar BISCUITS
- All Purpose Flour: makes biscuits texture soft!
- Whole Wheat flour: gives the biscuits some fiber which I personally love adding in because I think the biscuits taste just as good with it and it provides a benefit of not spiking our blood glucose levels as quickly when mixed with all-purpose flour! However, if you want to you can substitute this for all purpose flour.
- Baking Staples: don’t forget the baking powder and salt. These are gonna help our biscuits to rise!
- Butter: every good biscuit involves butter, plus believe it or not it is actually a healthy fat! Butter is high in fat-soluble vitamins, including vitamins A, E, and K. Vitamin K is an essential nutrient for helping the body absorb calcium!
- Milk: helps bind everything together. Feel free to use any milk you’d like to!
- Cheddar Cheese: gives the biscuits a salty creaminess that cuts through the spice of the jalapeno.
- Jalapeno: gives the biscuits a lil heat!
Jalapeno Cheddar Biscuits
These biscuits are fluffy, simple, and cheesy with a hint of jalapeno heat! So essentially what I'm saying is…they're absolutely delicious and you're gonna love 'em! This takes the biscuit recipe I was born and raised on and adds a lil cheesy spice!
Ingredients
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 3/4 cup whole wheat flour
- 1 Tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 4 Tbsp chilled butter
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup cheddar cheese
- 1 jalapeno, 1/2 diced & 1/2 sliced to go on top
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 450F.
- Combine dry ingredients into a medium-sized bowl.
- Cut in your butter with a knife into small cubes.
- When the mixture is the consistency of corn meal, add in your milk, 1/2 jalapeno (diced), & cheddar cheese.
- Stir until the dough leaves the sides of the bowl, knead with your hands.
- Form into biscuits based on the size you would like. My husband and I like to make mini sized biscuits (so we make 8 by dividing the dough in half and then divide those halves into 4 pieces).
- Place your biscuits into a cast iron skillet.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes. Enjoy!
