Simple Biscuits

These are the biscuits I was born and raised on and they are still my favorite! We make 'em bite sized and something about baking your biscuits in a cast iron makes 'em taste more southern!

Ingredients  

Dry

  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup whole wheat flour, * can sub all purpose if desired
  • 1 Tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Wet

  • 4 Tbsp chilled butter, cut into cubes
  • 3/4 cup milk of choice

Instructions 

  • Preheat your oven to 450F.
  • Combine dry ingredients into a medium-sized bowl.
  • Add in your cubed butter to the dry ingredients and mix with your hands until the consistency is similar to that of corn meal.
  • Then add in your milk and stir until the dough leaves the sides of the bowl.
  • Form into biscuits and place in a 9" cast iron pan.
  • Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown on top. Eat 'em as they are or top with butter, jam, jelly, you name it :)
